E-Learning Showcase
Thrivelandia
Learning Website
The goal of Thrivelandia is to engage kids and teens so that they will visit the website regularly and build resilience that will help them throughout their lives. Thrivelandia consists of 5 lands and each land helps build a different set of skills.
This is an e-learning website but we purposefully tried to “not” make it seem like that. Instead, we wanted it to feel like gaming site. Kids can do fun activities like crossword puzzles, word searches and drag/drop activities that keep them learning and coming back for more.
I worked closely with a creative director, who led the 3d modelling of Thrivelandia. She also designed the homepage and an interior page of Thrivelandia. I designed all other elements to match her style.
In this showcase of the Thrivelandia online world, you will find some videos, e-learning activities, sample pages and screenshots. The e-learning course is a password protected website but you can register if you want to see more of Thrivelandia.

Sample Activities
There are about 90 different levels in Thrivelandia. Each level features an intro video and an interactive activity for the user to complete. To keep the users engaged, we enlisted the help of 6 different Teens. I worked closely with these teens to create the intro videos. I then edited and added music to each of the videos. I built the activities in H5P and inserted them into the WordPress LMS.

Registration
I built a full membership system in WordPress. When a user registers, they can choose the speed in which they want the courses to be delivered to them and they can also choose their age group. Each activity is then delivered to their inbox with the timing and age range they chose.
Prizes
Once the user makes it through each land, they get a stamp on their passport and when they collect all stamps, they are entered in a draw to win a prize. The user enters the contest through the Thrivelandia website which sends the contest entry to Constant Contact.
Tracking
I tapped into the User MetaData to build some custom tracking features in PHP and Javascript. That tracking enabled me to build a progress bar that would show each user where they were in the online world (that consists of 5 lands) and allow them to unlock the next land only if they visited all areas of the current land.
Adults
In addition to the youth Thrivelandia site, a site was created for parents and a site was created for teachers. The goal of the parent site is to help parents understand how to work with the kids in the youth site. The teacher site helps educators learn how to use Thrivelandia in their teachings.
Make the Connection
E-learning Course
Make the Connection is an online program designed for new mothers that have babies from 0-3 years old. The program consists of 8 sections and each section contains 8, engaging lessons.
This program was created as an in-person program, written by a psychologist. I adapted everything in the program for the screen by modifying the script and figuring out ways to make things work as interactive elements in the program.
The lessons all contain interactive videos that are built to entertain and engage the users while they are learning. Each lesson is delivered to the users on a weekly “drip-feed” and all lessons have built in “tracking”.
I worked closely with a creative director who designed the logo and the homepage for “Make the Connection”. I designed all other elements to match her style.
In this showcase of the Make the Connection program you will find some videos and screen recordings of activities. The e-learning course is a password protected website but you can register if you want to see more of Make the Connection.

Sample Lessons
There are just over 60 lessons in the Make the Connection program. Each lesson features a video with music, voiceover, onscreen graphics/text and often an onscreen speaker. I directed the onscreen talent. I edited all of the videos, built the activities in H5P and then inserted them into Leardash (on WordPress).
